Blog #4 - Importance of Thinking in Interactivity
Thinking is an important part of the cycle of interactivity. It is in this step of the process that what has been said is processed or in a computer sense the input is processed. If thinking is not emphasized in interactivity then the product is not very useful. For example if you were using a program that had a really nice layout but when you clicked on a button nothing happened or what you expected to happen didn’t happen then the program wouldn’t really be thinking very well. For a user of an interactive product this could be very frustrating. Thinking in the sense of a computer is done with the algorithms it runs. The use of good and efficient algorithms increases the thinking aspect of a program, and thus makes it have better interactivity. Good thinking alone does not make something interactive but it does help greatly. Something also has to have good listening and speaking to be interactive. I think that thinking is such and important step in interactivity because if it listens and does not think or think very well, then is what it speaks back very useful?
